Investigations
Our office will carry out investigations that offer an insight into common problems that arise from time to time in different areas of public administration and that are of direct interest to a number of citizens such as applications for naturalisation, residency permits, identity cards & civilian registration cards, applications for visas, scholarships, schooling, allocation of government flats, housing applications, rent relief, condition of government flats and tenants, housing entitlement, homelessness, allocations of medical and social grounds, eligibility to government housing, tax assessments, applications for credits of social insurance contributions, provision of a berth for a boat, notice of termination of licence, registration for medical services, non-recognition of driving licence, application for licences, social assistance, disability allowance, applications for benefits or allowances, social insurance contributions, water ingress and leaks, repair and remedial works, etc.
By taking appropriate action following the Ombudsman’s investigations, the entities involved will try to ensure that similar common complaints will not arise again and that citizens will benefit from improved service delivery.
When the Ombudsman has concluded an investigation he will issue a detailed report with his findings of the investigation. This section includes reports on investigations carried out by the Ombudsman.
