Putting things right

Recommendation(s)

If we find that the entity you felt aggrieved with has done something wrong we can recommend to them to take action to put the matter right.

The Ombudsman has no executive powers to enforce his recommendations. However in the majority of cases the Ombudsman’s recommendations are implemented.

Some of the things we might ask a department or an entity to do are:

  1. Improve its procedures so that similar problems do not happen again.
  2. Take action or make a decision that it should have made before.
  3. Reconsider a decision that it did not take properly in the first place.
  4. Apologise to you.
