July 28, 2011

From the period 25th July to 23rd September 2011 we will have working with us a University student under the 'Government Summer Student Scheme', namely, Fiona Miller. She will be working from 10am to 2pm daily. Please find below her first impressions of the Ombudsman's role.

'Studying Law & Business at Middlesex University, in North London allows me to learn and access different sectors of the legal and business world, in a constantly active and rewarding atmosphere, guaranteed in the city of London.'    Fiona Miller
Working in the Office of the Ombudsman, for the Government Summer Student Scheme, grants me the opportunity to coincide with a highly held and developed and independent entity that are committed to promote attention and correction in the public services.

I find that the function and procedures that the office of Ombudsman runs by are greatly important to that of the citizens of Gibraltar.  Being born and raised in Gibraltar myself, I am thus aware of the significance of an independent body set to advocate fairness in the administrative actions of public service providers; furthermore assisting complainants with a professional and investigative service, in a timely and sensitive manner and in turn, giving an extra voice to the people of Gibraltar.
